Do Hobbies make kids happy?

Hobby is an activity during spare time for pleasure. Hobby plays a cameo role in self-development of a kid. It is a gateway to explore lateral skills & talent. Kids engaged in hobbies make them more confident. Eventually, the confidence is reflected in their behaviour in the form of happiness. Dr John Milton, associate professor of neurology at the University of Chicago, uses the example of a child playing with a doll. The child has that activity down pat. she looks as though her main task is playing with a doll & she obviously enjoys playing with the doll, what's really happening is that her brain is catching up on other parts of her life, understanding all that that's been going on around her. Kids can learn much faster than conventional methods through hobbies. Experiential learning makes them cheerful and helps grasp things faster. Motivation and willingness to involve in hobbies add more joy in their lives. Hobbies can be stress busters. Now a day, kids are suffering from too much academics and long hours of schooling. Hobbies can be the best possible way to make them happy & cheerful.

On the other side of the coin:

Looking from a different perspective, it is not necessary that hobby can make kids happy. As per current trend, parents force their children to join activities that do not interest the kids. Over ambitious parents ruin their children’s creativity at the nascent stage of their lives by imposing extracurricular activities.

So, freedom to select one’s own hobbies is essential to help kids  become cheerful & grow healthier.
